Just Because I Have An Opinion
Just because I have an opinion
…doesn’t mean I’m right.
…doesn’t mean you need to follow what I say to the letter.
…doesn’t mean I think you’re an idiot.
…doesn’t mean I’m right.
We all have opinions and we’re all entitled to them. Our opinions are based on our own experiences with and knowledge of a particular subject. A lot of time our opinions are given without much of either.
When people offer us their opinion take it, think about it, theoretically apply it and see if it will work for you. Or don’t. That’s the beauty of opinions you can take ‘em or leave ‘em, in the end everything is your call.
This post was inspired by Seth Godin’s post Just because he’s angry.

And *this* is why I love you, Sherri! You’re so tolerant and accepting of everyone, and you’re so humble and honest, too. You know your truth, you speak your truth, and you live your truth…but you don’t prevent anyone else from doing the same. it’s that kind of quiet strength that can move mountains. I’m honored to be your friend!

Thank you so much Jay, you’re very kind. It’s tough sometimes when you have an opinion, and you let it be known, to also have it come across in the way you intend it to. Sometimes I think I come across harsh (and make the other people feel like idiots) when sharing my opinion (although it’s certainly not my intent) but I do it because I sincerely want the best for the person. I honestly *know* that my way is not *the* way but I’m sure it doesn’t always come across as that. Maybe I need to do a little exercise in opinion restraint and see how that goes
Thanks again Jay!
Sherri: Thanks for sharing your opinion (bada-bing) on having an opinion. To your well-considered list, I would add ‘…doesn’t mean I have to share it’. I recall numerous episodes wherein keeping my opinion(s) to myself would have been the wiser choice.
Hi Eric,
Good point I like that one! There are many times where I’ve felt I shouldn’t have said what I did.
