The Best Way To Start Everyday
What you choose to do as soon as you wake up will certainly set the tone for your day.
If you wake up, lay in bed for a while, schlep to the bathroom slowly get your coffee etc … your day pretty well follows suit.
If however, when you wake up you work out, hit the shower or get outside and start gardening your day takes a totally different direction.
The best way to start everyday is in exactly the manner you want your day to play out.
Ask yourself:
What will make me feel good about myself?
What can I accomplish if I get going right away?
What if I take it easy and take my time to get going?
How you answer these questions will help you figure out how you are going to start your day tomorrow. Give it some thought.
The best way to start my everyday:
Wake up, have tea with my husband, make the bed, get the kids up, make breakfast and lunches, clean up the kitchen and start the laundry. When I do this I feel great. In those first couple of hours of the day I feel I have actually accomplished something. This leaves the rest of the day for playing with kids, hanging out at the park, reading, writing, gardening or just taking it easy (without some of the guilt).
Now it’s your turn: what is the best way to start your everyday?

I agree that the way the days starts can set the tone for the whole day.
On days when I don’t have a very early start at work I love to get up, have a cup of tea and a scroll through my e-mails then do a huge workout, get ready and start my day. I’m always energetic, feeling good and productive:)
On some days I start early, a quick shower, cup of tea and mascara on before being out the door before 6am is my usual start. These days I tend to be very productive in the mornings but then relax in the afternoons. I like both days, but my favourite is probably Sunday……I love to lounge around with some fresh coffee and trashy newspapers, potter around and generally do nice relaxing things!!

That’s awesome Kate! I love both ways you choose to start your days. I think it’s been referred to as the rudder of the day. Start off with a bit of a spring in your step and you’re steered in that direction. Start off slow and sluggish and well …
Thanks for sharing!
I find this to be very true. Great post Sherri! For me, it’s not only how I physically start my day, but what thoughts I allow myself to think as I wake up. I love your questions, and I think that there is a Beautiful Tension in starting your day accomplishing things right away (which I love because it gets me energy!) yet slowing down enough to savor the newness of the day. I kinda do both: I wake up, breathe, kiss my baby girl next to me and look for some inspired thought. And then off to shower and pick up downstairs, make breakfast.

Thanks for sharing Sherri! I also find that the first part of my day colours the rest. For me, I try to get up before my daughter (rather challenging some days) and meditate and do yoga. If she beats me to it, then I like to ensure that the first thing I see is either her smiling face, or the sun coming up through the trees in our backyard. Those things make the day so wonderful.
