The Magical Moments of Life
It’s easy to get caught up in the drama and urgency of daily life.
Too often we lose sight of what is really important. The little things, the simple pleasures, what I call life’s magic moments.
We all have them, but what’s magic to one doesn’t necessarily make the list of another. Give a thought to some of your life’s magic moments and take a bit of time to be grateful for them.
- Catching a fly ball during a baseball game in grade 5.
- Making the boys hockey team in grade 6 and being one of the top scorers.
- My wedding day. Yes, the whole day was magical.
- Completing my doctorate.
- Meeting my sons for the first time.
- Seeing my family at the airport when we returned home from Australia after nearly 4 years.
- Every time my kids smile.
- Strawberry picking with my niece.
- Making it to the top of McKinnon pass in New Zealand.
- Completing the Milford Track.
- Seeing Uluru at sunrise.
- Stargazing with my husband.
- My son taking his first step.
- Canoeing at the lake at dawn when the world is quiet.
- Having my kids fall asleep in my arms.
With enough time my list would be miles long no doubt. Please don’t be shy, share some magical moments from your own life and take a moment to be grateful for them.

Those are some excellent “moments” that you have experienced! As a spent a few minutes reflecting, it seems like most of mine involve my family, which is a good thing. Here are a few that come to mind:
-Meeting my wife in high school PE class
-The evening I proposed to her
-Being so nervous on our wedding day that I got tongue-tied saying the vows
- Finding out my wife was pregnant with our first son
- Announcing (through our son’s t-shirt) that our daughter was on the way
- Bringing our son home the first time and realizing he was there to stay
-Building the first snowman with both kids
-Our first Dad-Son only camping trip this summer
-On a personal note, completing my first cycling Century this summer
Wow, that list really could go on and on. We have certainly been blessed!
My first kiss.
My first kiss with my husband.
My first kiss as ‘husband and wife’.
(I like kissing!)
A stormy day wrapped in a quilt, sitting in front of a fireplace with a cup of hot cocoa and a book.
Hurricanes.
Dancing.

You guys these are great!! You’re making me think of more magic moments of my own. Gwynn’s wedding proposal, our wedding, finding out I was preggers, first kiss (was with my husband) awww…
Great list! I especially like the last item “having my kids fall asleep in my arms.” I have a three year old daughter, and I always love that.
I recently made a list of 100 things about me, and it included many items like this. A couple that come to mind are:
-sitting in the Jeep, in the middle of the woods, with the top down and a chill in the air, staring up at the stars.
-the quiet movement of a sailboat as it glides silently across the water.
-the sound of the rain.
-feeling the warmth of the sun on my face.
-the smell of the canvas tents at summer camp.
