Get Lost
Get lost.
You don’t have to stray far from home to get completely lost.
Allow yourself to fully experience a feeling, an emotion, an experience.
Get lost in a great book, a calming rhythm or a rocking beat.
Get lost in the soothing sounds of raining drops hitting the roof and tickling the trees.
Get lost in the soft, loving gaze of your partners eyes or the warmth of their embrace.
Get lost in the joy of gardening, watering, pruning and smelling the roses.
Get lost in the simple joy of laying in the grass and watching the clouds effortlessly drift by.
Get lost in the sunrise and sunset that happen each and everyday. Enjoy them, savour them and bask in their beauty.
Get lost in the exercise that makes your heart beat faster and your lungs fill fuller.
Get lost in creating. Write a book, a short story, paint, draw, sew what ever it is get lost in it.
Get lost in your thoughts when you’re surrounded by silence after everyone is asleep.
Get lost in the moment. This moment. Any moment. They are limited.
Get lost.

Sherri, I’m chuckling to myself as I read the title and the first line completely differently to what you intended (as in ‘Go Away’).
Once I got over that little misunderstanding I have to say I loved this. Getting lost is often seen as something ‘bad’ .. but there’s a real beauty in it. Just as you say! lol

Getting lost is agreat idea, and it is something so simple that anybody can do it. I like getting lost while watching the world wizz by when sitting on a train. I often think about the places and people that I glimpse for just a few seconds.

I was just talking to Jay about this, over the weekend… how fun it is to just get lost and find your way back home. You get to discover so many things you never even knew existed.
I love the angle of getting lost in sounds, moments and experiences too. Come to think of it… I think I STAY lost! I haven’t been “found” for quite some time!

@ Ian – That’s funny. I wondered if that would be what people first thought of when they read it lol. I’m glad you enjoyed it though there is beauty in everything you just have to spend time really looking.
@ Gary – That’s brilliant! I love watching people at the arrivals gate at an airport. Everyone is usually genuinely happy and I wonder what they’re doing next, where they’ve been and what they’ll see if they’re visiting. Everyone has a story and it’s neat to try and figure it out.
@ Lisis – That’s great. I’ll try getting lost on my way home one day and see what happens
It’s wonderful that you haven’t been found in a long time
I loooved this post
It`s when you do something and you are enjoying it so much and are so absorbed in it, you totally forget about everything else and it is awesome because you`re fully present! Thanks

Thanks for this — that’s an interesting perspective. I’ve always related getting lost with getting lost in thought, worrying about or regretting something. But we could also think about forgetting your self-image, needs, and so on and just getting into the “flow,” like when I’m rock climbing for instance, as a form of losing yourself as well.
A great reminder. I always try to communicate that you really don’t need to leave home to “get lost”, have a spiritual discipline, or simply learn to enjoy the present moment and relish in it. Enjoying the present moment in the simple things is a spiritual practice indeed.
Lots of times people tell me they want to take this or that seminar, go to this or that retreat, or study with a guru just to gain some serenity. While all these are exciting options, so many can’t afford to take them, because of family, responsibilities, work, financial restraints, etc.
This post is a nice reminder that the simplest of things can often bring the most peace of mind, if you approach them that way.
Cheers,
Miche
