  1. Sherri, I’m chuckling to myself as I read the title and the first line completely differently to what you intended (as in ‘Go Away’).

Once I got over that little misunderstanding I have to say I loved this. Getting lost is often seen as something ‘bad’ .. but there’s a real beauty in it. Just as you say! lol

  2. Getting lost is agreat idea, and it is something so simple that anybody can do it. I like getting lost while watching the world wizz by when sitting on a train. I often think about the places and people that I glimpse for just a few seconds.

  3. I was just talking to Jay about this, over the weekend… how fun it is to just get lost and find your way back home. You get to discover so many things you never even knew existed.

I love the angle of getting lost in sounds, moments and experiences too. Come to think of it… I think I STAY lost! I haven’t been “found” for quite some time!

  4. @ Ian – That’s funny. I wondered if that would be what people first thought of when they read it lol. I’m glad you enjoyed it though there is beauty in everything you just have to spend time really looking.

@ Gary – That’s brilliant! I love watching people at the arrivals gate at an airport. Everyone is usually genuinely happy and I wonder what they’re doing next, where they’ve been and what they’ll see if they’re visiting. Everyone has a story and it’s neat to try and figure it out. :)

@ Lisis – That’s great. I’ll try getting lost on my way home one day and see what happens ;) It’s wonderful that you haven’t been found in a long time :)

  5. I loooved this post :) It`s when you do something and you are enjoying it so much and are so absorbed in it, you totally forget about everything else and it is awesome because you`re fully present! Thanks :)

  6. Thanks for this — that’s an interesting perspective. I’ve always related getting lost with getting lost in thought, worrying about or regretting something. But we could also think about forgetting your self-image, needs, and so on and just getting into the “flow,” like when I’m rock climbing for instance, as a form of losing yourself as well.

  7. A great reminder. I always try to communicate that you really don’t need to leave home to “get lost”, have a spiritual discipline, or simply learn to enjoy the present moment and relish in it. Enjoying the present moment in the simple things is a spiritual practice indeed.

Lots of times people tell me they want to take this or that seminar, go to this or that retreat, or study with a guru just to gain some serenity. While all these are exciting options, so many can’t afford to take them, because of family, responsibilities, work, financial restraints, etc.

This post is a nice reminder that the simplest of things can often bring the most peace of mind, if you approach them that way.

    Cheers,

    Miche
