  1. What great ideas! I have one that I use for shoes but now that just seems boring! I’m going to give this some thought and if I come up with any clever ideas, I’ll let you know. (One thing I like to do when I put my shoes in there is tuck a few dryer sheets in with them to make them smell fresh!)

  2. @ PP – That’s good :) I’m glad you liked the ideas here and yes please do let me know if you think of anything else. I love the idea of dryer sheets in the shoes…I’m gonna do that. Thanks!

  3. I use one in my piano studio to hold various types of flashcards and teaching supplies. Would also be useful in a homeschool or regular classroom!

  4. @ Laura – That’s brilliant! I love that idea I know a couple of people who teach/homeschool I’m sure they’ll love this! Thanks!

  5. What great ideas! I used a shoe organizer for my Barbie dolls growing up. It hung on the back of my door and was just the right size for the dolls.

  6. @ Marci – Awesome! That would be perfect for Barbie storage. I have two boys maybe it’ll work with G.I. Joes… :)

  7. Sherri, your articles on unconventional uses for everyday things always bring a smile to my face. Plus they get my creative juices bubbling. To add to your list … I use one for rolled up towels and have it hanging in the bathroom. I have a second one I use for … shoes!

I’ve always wanted to get one to store my yarn in so I can see what I have, unfortunately I have no-where to hang it (all our doors have hooks on) and my yarn wouldn’t fit in the pockets – there’s just too much! (Even splitting by colour I have for example 8 50g balls of electric pink mohair – that wont fit in one pocket!)

  10. I have one on the back of my pantry door and use it for odd packets, but mostly it’s full of all my spices. I definitely need to get another one for my sewing/craft area.

  11. I hang on on the front of our basement door. It’s in front of our back door entrance, so this tiny area functions as a mudroom with very little space. I have hooks on the wall for jackets and bags, a basket for shoes, and the shoe organizer for mittens/scarves/hats for winter, then I switch it all out for summer stuff: sunscreen, glasses, hats, small fishing gear, etc. It’s perfect! (I also use them all over the house for electrical stuff in the home office; random tools, supplies in our hall storage closet, and toiletries in our bathroom storage area.)
