LOL, Sherri! They've probably remodeled the Ritz several times since I was there in 1964. It was lovely, but that photo is even more beautiful. I think we were in a smaller room, too. It was nice of you to look that up!

Thank you all for your comments. It makes me really happy to know that it uplifted you all in some way :)

@ Mary - Thank you for sharing your tea story and at the Ritz in London no less! I wasn't familiar with the hotel so I looked it up on line and after I picked my jaw up off the table I thought WOW! What an experience for you. (For anyone who's interested take a look at their tea room: http://www.theritzlondon.com/tea/index.asp I hope this is the right place Mary :))

@ Lance - Welcome and thanks for leaving a comment. I think it is very common for us to all take our family for granted after all they are ALWAYS there right? But we shouldn't despite that like you say they should be treasured always and I whole heartedly agree!

@ Jocelyn - Hi there good to have you back! Thanks for your kind words.

@ Ian - Thank you Ian :) It is tough when you are spread out over a large distance but telling people they are loved and what they mean to you can be just as important as spending time with them.

Very warm and loving post, Sherri.

Reminds me I don't spend nearly as much quality time with my family as I'd like. It's one of the problems of a very geographically spread family.

Wow, you've had such wonderful moments filled with love. :-) In those moments, it's as though all the world's blessing have been yours.

Hi Sherri,

This is a great reminder of what really matters! And sometimes, in the normalness of life - we fail to recognize that which is so important to us - we take it for granted. And it really a gift. A gift that we should treasure always... So, thank you for reminding me what it is that matters - something I can't hear too often...

Oh, Sherri, what a nice weekend! I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. I feel like the previous poster, it made me happy just to read about your experiences.

You mentioned tea with your family, and it took me back in time. When I was 14, I went to Great Britain with my mother and father. My father was selling Rootes cars, at that time (1964), and they had a convention of US dealers. It was a lovely trip that I will never forget. When we were in London, we went to this nice place that had very fancy armchairs and little tea tables with tea and goodies to eat. I enjoyed it very much. Years later, I asked my mother what that place was called. She looked at me in surprise. "You didn't realize you were having tea at the Ritz?" LOL

My BFF is from London, Ontario, and we used to have tea parties all the time. Now we are far away from each other. Sigh! I miss our tea parties.
