Oh yes!

I think if you look at any world class performer (in any field - sport, art, business etc.) then you'll probably find that they really focus only on their talents and strengths.

I'm not one myself (yet) but I guess they spend minimal time working with their weaknesses, and then only when they're interfering with their talents and strengths.

You know, this reminds me of how the education systems are designed to try to make everyone equally good at all sorts of things: math, writing, art, P.E., science... etc. How many grown-ups do we know that are good at ALL of these (not many).

I think we should start focusing on finding and cultivating individual strengths early on, so no one has to feel "not good enough" in areas that don't come naturally to them. Besides, when we are young we have tons of passion and no awareness of possible obstacles. We really CAN achieve anything if we focus on our strengths!

BTW, I LOVE your new design, banner, and default gravatar. Beautiful. The sky blue is super soothing. :)

Take a minute and look at what you are currently working on in your life. Do the activities you are spending the most time on align with your strengths? Are they things you enjoy doing? Are they resulting in happiness for you?

Finally, yes. I used to just find ways to pass the time, now I spend my time getting better at things I love doing, even if my skill level isn't very high yet. Big diff, when it comes to happiness levels.

What a good point - we really DO focus a lot on our weaknesses. In the bigger picture, that's not a bad thing. But wouldn't it be refreshing to pat ourslves on the back for what we do well, and invest some time in continuing to excel? Thank you for the paradigm shift.

Hi Sherri,

I like what you said about those interview questions. I mean, come on! What a waste of everyone's time to pretend to honestly admit your weaknesses, as you point out.

I wasn't aware that much of the personal development sector focused on weaknesses. I think that many people struggle to discover their strengths, and thus find their purpose. Interesting point for me to ponder. Thanks!
