@ Positively Present - Chocolate is the best snack :)

@ Jay - Sounds like a pretty great lunch! Hope you enjoyed it.

@ Roger - Mmmm chocolate covered almonds best of both worlds :) Oatmeal in a smoothie does sound a bit weird but it's really good! Just don't add too much of it or it gets all clumpy.

@ Lisis - Parfait that's an awesome idea! I haven't made one of those yet. Fortunately, our son LOVES yogurt he has one every morning for breakfast after his piece of toast.

@ David - Oooh avocado! That's one of Gwynn's favorite little indulgences. We don't get them too often but they are incredibly good for you!

@ Karen - Welcome! That's the key to a healthy eating lifestyle everything in moderation and find things that taste good by default :) Thanks for your comment!

@ Ian - Skinny cow really is good. It's not vegetarian as it contains skim milk. Maybe they have a different line of products that is but I haven't found it on my brief google search.

I'm all for small indulgences (even the unhealthy ones).

Skinny cow? I've not head of that before. Is it safe for vegetarians?

This post made me crave dark chocolate.

Another favorite 'healthy indulgence' is avocado. They are high in fat, but it's the healthy kind, and for what they add to a meal, they don't contribute too many calories.

I love all the things on this list. One of the tricks I've discovered to get Hunter to eat yogurt is to serve it as a beautiful parfait.

I put fresh strawberries (cored and quartered) in a bowl with some sugar, and stir it around for a while. It softens them a little and makes a sweet, red syrup. Then I get a lovely martini glass and put a bit of strawberries in the bottom, a layer of yogurt, repeat, and finish off with berries on top. Then, like you said, you can add something crunchy on top (granola, crushed pecan sandies, whatever).

Somehow I find that it tastes better when it LOOKS like dessert, rather than health food. But I'm sure that's just because dessert makes ME disproportionately happy.

;-)

Oh man...you hit many of my favorite foods!

I love dark chocolate and I usually eat a little every day. I particularly like dark chocolate with almonds.

I also eat yogurt, but I "doctor it up" in a unhealthy way. I take a low-fat vanilla yogurt and add a teaspoon of cherry jam and some dried dark sweet cherries. I love it!

I like your smoothie recipe, although I've never tried a smoothie with cooked oatmeal. Interesting.
