What a list! Here’s mine:
- I enjoy sitting out on my front porch when there’s a nice warm breeze and listening to the birds sing.
- I also love a tall glass of homemade lemonade, or sweet tea. (Yeah, I’m a Southern girl)
- I like to sing really loud when nobody’s home, which is very rare.
Okay, there you have it. A few of my simple pleasures. Great post, Sherri. Really fun!

51. Go to the beautiful Miami zoo on sunny 72 degree day.

Hey, Sherri! I love all the items on your list… except maybe the waking up early part (I still haven’t discovered the joy of that one.)
I know you had “dancing in the rain” but one of our favorites is blowing bubbles in the rain because it makes them bounce instead of pop. Has to be a light rain though, not a thunderstorm. Never blow bubbles (or dance) in a thunderstorm.

Great list. Some of my simple pleasures are:
1. Going home after a long day and seeing my loved ones.
2.A delicious meal with my friends and family.
3.Hugs and kisses are awesome.
4. Fudge and cupcakes
5. Sunshine
I could go on but then this comment would get too long!

What a great list! There are several of these things that I do every day (or at least as often as possible), but the one that struck a chord with me today was #11, Indulge in your favorite chocolate. I did that today…got my first chocolate ice cream cone of the year…and it was…exquisite.

Fantastic list. I just read a 50 things you can do to make you miserable today. This one is much better.
51 – Take a walk in the bright morning sunshine.

I’m glad you liked it everyone! Thanks for sharing your additional small things they’re all great!! Singing, the zoo, hugs and kisses, and chocolate ice cream…I think I should have made a longer list
Lisis, I’ve never tried blowing bubbles in the rain I’ll have to give that a go this summer it sounds neat!
Stephen, I’m glad you found this one to counter balance the misery in the other post
Glad you liked it!
Sherri, your list made my day! I found myself smiling as I was reading it.
Hi Mary,
Hope you have another great day!
That’s great! THAT makes ME happy
awesome list! at first i thought, “50?? you found 50?” but as i read, i thought, “of course you did, and i can too.” that’s great.
here are a few:
1. biking early in the morning to work, i have the neighborhood streets to myself, mostly. historic architecture/homes, the Gateway Arch in the near distance, the sleeping farmer’s market.
2. saying “hello” to our two labrador retrievers when i get home from work, and seeing their hardly containable excitement, as they wag their tails so hard it wags the back halves of their bodies.
3. the moment i finish washing dishes and know that the kitchen sink is empty again, if only briefly.
@ adam – Welcome! I’m glad you enjoyed the list! It’s amazing how many things you can think of that make your day when the little ones aren’t over looked. We also have two lab retrievers and know EXACTLY what you mean about wagging the back halves of their bodies
Thanks for your comment!
Simple pleasures are great and they are something we sometimes take for granted. Some of my favorite simple pleasures are:
- writing in my journal
- spending time with my dog
- sleeping in
- indulging in a bowl of ice cream
- reading a great novel outside
Thanks for sharing all of these wonderful ideas. Now I have more simple pleasures to try out!
Positively Present’s last blog post..a great recipe for life
Positively Present – The little things are often over looked absolutely! I love your list of simple pleasures thanks for sharing!
The activities on that list alone could keep me smiling for the rest of my life.
Number 19 is a definite favorite. My chocolate chip cookies are a source of pride for me.

Number Two, walking barefoot on the grass is number one for me.
A way I like to take that further is to go barefoot in some really slimy mud. The feeling in between your toes is amazing.
Great list Sherri
Tom Maurer | Simple and Spiritual’s last blog post..Simplify The Bathroom
@ David – LOVE chocolate chip cookies, those with a great cup of coffee…heavenly!
@ Tom – Welcome! Mud between the toes that’s awesome! That reminds me of another…I can’t walk past a pile of sand without running my hands through it, it’s very relaxing! Glad you liked the list and thanks for your comment.
